World Down's Syndrome Day 2024

World Down's Syndrome Day occurs every year on the 21st March. This date (the 21st day of the 3rd month) signifies the third copy of chromosome 21 that is unique to people with Down's syndrome.

This year’s World Down's Syndrome Day theme is ‘End the Stereotypes’. Down Syndrome International have created some great guides to explain the theme of stereotypes:

SMDSSG WDSD resources

We have created a SMDSSG paper chatterbox to colour and cut out, as well as an information leaflet to share with the parents in your child's class. Please email if you would like a copy of these resources.

Our WDSD 2024 social media story

Throughout the course of this year, we are aiming to raise a whopping £21,000!!! This will help us to continue to put on events for all our members, and add some new ones such as a holiday club and social events specifically for our members aged 5-9 years.

We would love you to help us! We’re asking as many members as possible to kick start our fundraising by choosing a sponsored 3 and 21 challenge to suit you and your family. You could walk/toddle/run/cycle/scoot 3k together with 21 friends. Or you could read 3 books in 21 days. You could even do 21 star jumps in 3 minutes. Every little helps – any challenge you can do will help us to reach our ambitious target!

Email for details of how to set up your sponsored event.
